Character LineUp

Okay, so here is the character lineup. Not all the designs are final, only the girl is (the coloured one). Because she’s the first I’m going to make! And since my knitting skills are growing, she’ll be fully knitted! I’m entertaining thoughts of making it ALL knit, trees and rocks and houses and what-not…

Oh, the first set will be the Japanese graveyard, and the music for it is being written these very moments!

More incredible artists

Two artists that I love: Bao Pham’s characters… and colors… ugh… http://bao22.blogspot.com/search/label/characters

The second is Jenna Stegg, unbelievable acrylics. She uses thinned layers on wood panel and then finishes the details with pencils. She also does digital paintings… gorgeous!! http://www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=104866332882786

Batwoman Plus

Hi everybody!

Recently a friend of mine introduced me to some fantastic new comic artists: Adam Hughes http://www.justsayah.com/,

He’s a big wonder woman fan.. great stuff. JH Williams is a more experimental comics artist, although still making popular comics, his page spreads are awesome and the coloring… wow… http://www.jhwilliams3.com/

She also gave me his batwoman comics and I enjoyed them throughly. Batwoman is lesbian! Woo! Fun!

Well I feel kinda silly sharing some sketches but eh well!  The house is sort of what I have in mind for the first set – the candy house!

Some Sketches

I’ve started making a paper prototype of the game. It’s as basic and fun as ever – a character RPG with skills and timers and stuff. This will help me get a feel of the game without any programming done! This way I can test it out and balance it quite quickly. And see it it’s any fun at all.

I’m adding a few sketches, searching for the design… and also some initial character descriptions:

Man Eating Hag – A wicked old woman who is so envious of youth she had mastered to art of illusions to make herself seem young and attractive. However, as soon as she traps a man, she shows her true form – long nails, white-straw hair, bent and furious. She then opens a huge mouth fool of long sharp teeth to swallow the poor fellow. Although she prefers young men, she also enjoys eating children, and summoning frighting illusions or conjuring ghosts. Her best friends are rats. She is a very lonely old woman, and of course she holds the poisoned apple… She can also curse and possess other beings.

Scribe – A wizened mature woman, quite attractive but unreachable. She is a master of complex shadow spells and potions. She is also a master of a unique style of martial arts:“Broom-Fu” -she created a unique broom which can turn to a mighty double weapon in seconds. Short hair and athletic, wide shoulders. Business woman to cover her secrets in her daily lives – an archaeologist maybe or a scientist. She travels by broomsport. She has a raven companion and an army of spiders.

Title Announced: Bewitched

Just kidding about the name. Worry not! But I have finally decided on which game I’m going to make – no it’s no longer about animal transformation, it’s much simpler – witches in a melee!

Yes you heard right. It will be a stop motion fighting game where different witches fight each other. Only female, of various ages and styles. Should be good fun! Incoming sketches 🙂

I’d also like to feature my good friend Adir’s new blog. He’s a fellow animator and he’s started writing about comics and animation, as well as showing his own work. Awesome gems there – enjoy 🙂 http://wheretoons.blogspot.com/

Hello From Cologne (pronounced Koln)

So, I just got back to my cosy little dorm room at the hostle, and this is the last day of my trip. Definetly the best day in Germany.
Because today I was at Gamecon! Man that was fun!! I got to play Diablo III nananana!

And lots of other great games, the ones that come into my mind are Bloodline Champions, Tera, Final Fantasy Online, SoulMasters… To name a few.
Bloodlines was amazing fun stuff: it’s an arena-shooter-RPG style game, where you pick a pre-made character and utilize it to the best of your abilities. They’re witchdoctor and steampunk styles, and the battle is well made, the controls are easy to learn, the only thing that bothered me is the slow movement, but you forget this after you get to using skills like enemy grapple and switch location spells.

In Diablo I played the wizardress. Mmm it was not easy at all! I felt kind of limited cause I was stuck to mostly using one spell while the others were less useful or on a timer. Still that 1.5 spell was fun to cast again and again while honning me hit and run tactics.
Ohhh, by the way, the Diablo booth was hidden so you couldn’t see what’s being played from the outside..

Oh there was also a gorgeous gallery of concept art oil paintings! mostly battleforge stuff. I was sure these were all Painter…

Start New Game

Hello everybody!

The year is gone and past and now I am focusing solely on my final project: The game!

It may be a variation on Druid, with animal-transformation related puzzles, or a color vision game, with the ability to change color “glasses” to solve riddles, or it may be a strategy game which I won’t speak more of of now.

I’ll upload my new film, Karashindo, in the next few days. It’s made in Stop Motion with wool-felted puppets.

And Sketches!

Also, learning both Unity engine and Torque 2D. Haven’t decided on either yet. If anybody’s got ideas, let me know!

Love,

Return of the dead

Hi Everybody!

I know you thought this blog was dead. Well I thought so too. But I’m still alive and kicking! I think it’s past time I revive it then. I am a cleric, after all.

So, for starters, here’s the poster for my game, Druid! I hope you like it. And a test from this semester’s project: a story about Karashindo.

Hmmm what else is new… there’s plenty of new sketches, of course, and scupltures too. I made a costume: Princess Mononoke it is. My goals for this semester is to finish planning the game – it’s changed it’s face and will now be more of a conceptual game, where you play different facets of humanity by acting as different animals. Finish the film… draw lots and lots…

Hey anyone who’s interested in seeing those things, let me know 🙂

Sketches

Hi!

The game is going slow. I blame the essays. And yet, I think I was rewarded for learning about Sally Potter, and getting to meet her in person. One thing I got is my writing ability back.

And the first story is the one about the girl who talks to ducks!

So, they are on a small family boat, cruising down river. The parents are somewhere inside chatting, the older brother (6) chases her around and torments her <okay, lightly>. Eventually she sneaks away unnoticed, and go on to the very back of the boat, hiding there. She then hears the ducks who are about in the river. She quaks back. The ducks pause. She quaks again. They answer. She quaks happily. They start following the boat and begins a conversation of quaks. Sometime later something scares them and they fly away. She quaks to the silence and moans a bit, but doesn’t cry. Evening falls, she is asleep. Her parents carry her away to a warm bed.

The next day, while playing, she hears a quak. She skips to her ‘secret’ place and quaks merrily. There’s a chorus of quaking. She stand us and slides across the ladder at the back of the boat, to the water. She slips on the last step but lands on a big goose.

Dunno what happens next. Maybe she flies with them, or goes on a journey of some sorts and returns.

Okay, so, the essay is turned in, I am pleased and learned, now back to animation.

Here are some sketches from the past days…
